Max Misemer


At the Annual Stated Meeting on December 2, 2009, 1st Ceremonial Master Max Misemer was elected our Oriental Guide for 2010.

Max was born and raised in Springfield, Missouri. He started a U. S. Naval Career in 1960. Graduated from Missouri State University in 1966 with a B.S. in accounting/business administration; he was commissioned a United States Naval Officer in 1966. He served three tours in Vietnam with the U.S. Navy Amphibious Forces; he continued his naval career in civilian life through the U.S. Navy Reserve. Having chosen the insurance industry for a professional career, he was a licensed insurance agent for 30 years, 23 of those years in sales and marketing management. He represented the insurance industry in the State of Missouri as a public relations officer in N.A.L.U. Headquarters in Washington, D.C. for five years. He earned the Life Underwriter Training Council Fellowship degree from NALU, in Washington, D.C. and the Chartered Life Underwriter degree from The American College, Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. Max retired in 2002, moving to Sarasota in 2003.

Max married Lady Cindy, who was born and raised in central Missouri. She attended Central Missouri State University. Lady Cindy retired from Shelter Insurance Companies following a career as a property underwriter and claims adjuster, including catastrophe team leadership. She is a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She was a Woman of the Year in ABWA Sedalia, Missouri Chapter. They have four grown children and six grandchildren.

Max was raised a Master Mason in 1977 at United Lodge No. 5 in Springfield, Missouri and York Rite Masonry 1978. He became a noble of Abou Ben Adhem Shriners in Springfield in June 1978. He moved to Arrat Shriners in Kansas City, Missouri in 1985, where he became a 32° Scottish Rite Mason in 1989.

Max was Exalted Ruler of Elks Lodge No. 749, Lexington, Missouri in 1992-93 and Trustee and Secretary/Treasurer 1993-2001.

In 2003 Max affiliated with Sahib Shriners, he is a member of the Bingo Committee, Greeters, Manatee Shrine Club, Hillbilly Shrine Club, North Port Shrine Club, King Pins and Order of Q.
