Rocky spent the younger part of his life in western New York where he received his education. It was there he started his work career in the meat business as an assistant manager and head meat cutter. His love was really for hockey and spent all his spare time at the rink. He got the great opportunity to practice with a professional team in 1974-1975. He made plans to move to Houston, Texas, but ended up right back in the Buffalo area. It was in 1981 he figured out if Florida was good enough to retire in, why not get a head start and make a living there. Rocky worked in a cabinet shop for a few years and decided to go into business for himself in 1987, when he opened Thee Cabinet Shop in North Port–Still there in the 25th year! He is a certified SCUBA instructor and on the 4th of July you’ll see him and his Lady Wendy blowing things up, as they are pyrotechnicians for Garden State Fireworks. In 1996 and 97 Rocky worked on a Winston Cup Race team, lots of fun, too much traveling while running the cabinet business. My lady Wendy, of 12 yrs, became his wife as they got married at the Annual Imperial Hillbilly Convention held at Sahib... she loves helping out at Sahib and doing things for the Shrine and the Masonic Home. She has her own Harley and loves boating, SCUBA diving and helping out at Sahib. Rocky’s Masonic history started in 1971 when he received his DeMolay Degree. He was raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason in 1976, became a dual member of Venice Lodge No. 301 in 2003. He was Master of the Lodge in the year 2008 and president of the Master Mason Association in 2009 and 2010. He became a Scottish Rite Mason in the Valley of Buffalo in 1981 and Valley of Tampa in 2007 where he enjoys doing degree work. In 2006, he joined The York Rite, and was honored in being invited to become a Knight Mason in 2009. It was in 1981 at Ismalia Shriners, Rocky became a Shriner and with his move to Florida, he demitted in 1982 to Sahib. Some of his accomplishments at Sahib are being Outer Guard in 2009, appointed 2nd Ceremonial Master in 2011 and elected as Oriental Guide at a mid-year election. Elected High Priest & Prophet in 2011 and Asst. Rabban for the year 2012 He was liaison for 2010-2011East/ West game and he is on the advisory committee for the 2012 game. Director of Clubs for 2009, President of the Motor Corps three different years, two years Hillbilly president and Raban of the Clan. He has been the president of the Ritual Team going on four years. His other clubs and units include: North Port Shrine Club, Clowns, Venice Shrine Club, Camel Herders, King Pins and the Past Masters. Rocky is a long-time member of the International Masonic Motorcycle Club and Charter Member of three of the Widow’s Sons Masonic Riders Associations. |
